For 21 years prior to forming Michael Brummer & Associates he was owner and CEO of Niagara Paper Company; as well as serving as a trade advisor to the U.S. Department of Commerce for the past 19 years. Serving as Vice President of Strategic Planning, Executive Vice President, COO, and CEO he has been responsible for the successful completion of numerous corporate reengineering projects. He has extensive senior level leadership experience in international trade, policy and business development, strategic planning, and operations. In addition he has worked in the area of finance, and corporate mergers and acquisitions.

  • Built and successfully sold a family business known for its innovation in servicing the graphic arts industry
  • Created efficient, safe, highly productive manufacturing environments across multiple locations
  • Managed the physical roll-up and integration of four manufacturing locations into a single facility
  • Served as the Chairman of the Pulp and Paper Industry Advisory Committee for the U.S. Department of Commerce after serving two terms as Vice Chairman of the same Committee.
  • Currently serves on the Forest Products Industry Trade Advisory Council at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
  • Successfully opened multiple “Greenfield” manufacturing and distribution facilities in new markets
  • Worked successfully with Organized Labor in multiple locations.

  • Featured guest speaker at the American Forest and Paper Association’s Fall Symposium on Global Competitiveness
  • Featured speaker at the “Publishing & Communications Papers Conference in Montreal, Canada
  • Appeared as an expert witness at the International Trade Commission hearings regarding the “332 Investigation on Global Competitiveness of the Forest Products Industry” in Washington, DC.
  • Has been appointed to the Department of Commerce: “Industry Functional Advisory Council for Electronic Commerce”
  • Served on the 1996 Department of Commerce trade mission to the OECD in Paris, France
  • Mr. Brummer was a founding member of the Western New York Chamber of Commerce Council of Small Enterprises
  • On May 26, 2004 received University of Buffalo Office of Science, Technology Transfer and Economic Outreach, “Entrepreneurial Spirit Award for 2003”.
  • On February 21, 2005 elected a member of the Old Fort Niagara Board of Directors.
  • Chaired the Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s, Erie County Stabilization Project Internal Operations Working Group Subcommittee examining Erie Community College.
  • Currently serves as a member of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s Government Affairs Committee
